Like The Osbournes, this cable TV reality series zeroed in on the colorful private life of a sometimes dysfunctional, always unpredictable, and undeniably charismatic celebrity. In this case, the "star" was the irrepressible Gary Busey, who in each episode endeavored to teach "important life lessons" to his biggest fan, Adam De La Pena (who also wrote and created the show). No holds were barred on the series, in which Gary not only philosophized and ranted, but also cooked, cleaned, danced, sang, and even dressed up in drag. What set this show apart from other, similar "warts and all" endeavors was Busey's wicked sense of humor and his realization that the entire project was simply a voyeuristic lark.
